School of Computer Science

Michel Barbeau

Welcome!

I’m a Professor of Computer Science. My interest in Computer Science started with the advent of personal computers in 1981. I received a Bachelor, a Master's and a Ph.D. degree, all in Computer Science, from Université de Sherbrooke ('85), in undergraduate studies, and Université de Montréal ('87 & '91), in graduate studies.

Teaching: A listing of my teaching activities is available here.

Research: Wireless communication has been my interest for a long time. It initially started as a hobby. I’ve been a licensed radio operator since 1987. It is now my main area of research. I particularly put more effort on the topics of wireless security, vehicular communications and wireless  access network management. I participate to MITACS, network of centres of excellence. Within MITACS, I’ve been leading a project on computer networks called CANCCOM since 2003.

Supervision: There is nothing I like more than working with students. I supervise Honours, Master's and Ph.D. projects (see past Honours projects and Theses). With Prof. Evangelos Kranakis, I have a Network Research Group involving students at all levels.
