Speaker: Prof. George Kesidis, CSE and EE Depts, Penn State University Title: A study of network neutrality using a simple quadratic revenue model Abstract: Using a common linear demand-response model for usage-pricing by both ISPs (access providers) and content providers, we study different issues of network neutrality. For a single application type, the resulting revenues are compared for cooperative, non-cooperative and leader-follower dynamics. In some cases, side payments between such providers yield a counter-intuitive result that the revenue of the receiving provider diminishes at Nash equilibrium. Finally, we consider a simple example involving two very different application types to study the effect on revenues of application neutrality.
