Installing VirtualBox on your computer

• Download and install VirtualBox for your specific platform.
• Download and install the Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack from the same site

Installing the Virtual Machine (VM) on your computer

• Get a copy of the VM
  • Option #1: from a lab computer, copy the file C:\Support\COMP2401\COMP2401.ova to your USB memory stick
  • Option #2: download the VM for 32-bit or 64-bit architects.
• Import the VM
  • Launch VirtualBox
  • Under File, select Import Appliance
  • Select your copy of the COMP2401.ova (or COMP2401_x64.ova) file that you got in the previous step
  • The VM will be installed

Starting the VM

• Launch VirtualBox
• Launch the VM
  • Select the VM for COMP 2401
  • Double-click on the VM or click on the green arrow button
  • The Linux Ubuntu environment will start up

Logging in to the VM

• Log in to Linux with the username and password indicated in class
