            Project Objectives:

Investigate fundamental distributed computing issues in general
communication networks, as well as in emerging ad-hoc, wireless,
            sensor and peer-to-peer computing networks.
Develop radio resource management schemes and corresponding
schedulers that maximize throughput with users QoS guarantee and
            optimize TCP/IP performance over UMTS.
Invent scalable IP address lookup and packet classification
algorithms with reduced complexity, lower memory requirements and
            increased search and update speeds.
Improve performance and security of mobile and wireless
networks and more specifically service discovery, satellite
transport protocols, intrusion detection and spontaneous
            communication.
Develop algorithms for basic network management functions such
as call admission control and bandwidth allocation based on on-line
            measurements using fuzzy logic control.
Develop methods to understand traffic measurements data for
MPLS networks and invent estimation techniques to obtain traffic
volume that can be used to size Label Switched Paths.
Develop tools to apply with benefits the theory of Network
Calculus (NetCal) for the design and performance modeling of
            routers.
Develop new methodologies for resource management and control
for QoS assurance in evolving broadband optical and IP networks.
Develop new algorithms for load routing and propose efficient load balancing mechanisms for complex networks consisting of a large number of nodes, including wireless sensor networks.
Suggest new models, and address general issues in performance for SONs. Provide tail asymptotic analysis and performance bounds for large scaled complex systems.
